The rolls of The Santa Rosa County Creek Indian Tribe, Inc. are open. We invite you to become a member. We’ll be glad to give you the details.

   Documentation Needed to Become a Member of Santa Rosa County Creek Indian Tribe, Inc

  1. Begin with yourself:
          At least one of the following documents. (The more documentation, the better)
                    a. birth certificate
                    b. marriage license
                    c. divorce decree

  2. Your parents:
          At least one document from this list. (the more documentation, the better)
                    a. birth certificates
                    b. marriage license
                    c. divorce decree
                    d. death certificate
                    e. photo of headstone
                    f. state death index
                    g. Social Security death index

          Indicate which parent(s) (father or mother or both) have the Indian ancestry:

   3. Your grandparents:
          Documentation same as above if available – other documentation may also include:
                    a. state and federal census records
                    b. family Bible records
                    c. church records
                    d. military records
                    e. land records / patents
                    f. wills

          Again, Indicate which grandparent has the Indian ancestry.
          Once you have documented back to your Indian ancestor, which may be many generations, you must prove that he/she was an Indian.
          Possible documentation includes:
                    a. census records stating individual was an Indian
                    b. Indian census records
                    c. military records stating individual was an Indian
                    d. birth certificate stating individual was an Indian
                    e. death certificate stating individual was an Indian
                    f. books such as Billie Ford Snider’s Creek Indians East of the Mississippi

*Please note that being told you have an Indian ancestor is not documentation. However, it may be the basis for your research. Remember, you are only documenting the branch of your family tree that has your Indian ancestor.

Once you have documented each generation back to your Indian ancestor,
